English oil on canvas still life of harvested fruit. Circa 1880. Signed G Clare. George Clare was a Birmingham fruit and flower painter and imitator of W.H. Hunt's small detailed still life works. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, British Institution and Suffolk Street. He is thought to be the father of Oliver and Vincent Clare, who were still life artists.
